I was born and raised in Barcelona, Spain. Both my parents are professional cellists, and they nurtured the appreciation for the arts and music in my brothers and I from a very young age.
I started playing the violin as a child and played with my family for weddings and services, once even performing in the beautiful Palau de la Música Catalana, and in different youth orchestras. Together with my brothers we went on to win several junior chamber music awards.
Curiosity in how things worked had me constantly taking apart all sorts of mechanisms and electrical devices, learning early on to use hand tools and building simple furniture and an assortment of “inventions”. So when my uncle introduced me to violin making, it felt like the natural thing to do. I was instantly captivated by the craft and finished my first violin by the time I turned 15.
Fueled by passion and determination I began the journey of the self-taught, with regular consultation visits to the renowned Catalan violin maker David Bagué, with whom I forged a deep connection and still today is a source of inspiration and creative conversation.
I went on to study Industrial Engineering at the Polytechnical University of Barcelona (ETSEIB). I specialized in electronics, but my mind was never far from violin making. In 2005 and 2006 I spent a couple weeks of my holidays learning the basic skills of violin making in England with luthier Derek Roberts. For my college graduation thesis I built a prototype of a stringless MIDI violin that won me the COEIC award for best engineering thesis in 2011.
In 2011 I apprenticed under VSA gold medalist Paul Hart in Utah, building my first cello with him and polishing the technical aspects of the craft.
From 2013 to 2023 I was fortunate to work at the distinguished shop of Ifshin Violins in El Cerrito, California. Under close guidance of shop foreman and multiple award winning violin maker Haide Lin I gained a deep insight into the intricate world of repairs and restoration. Having had the opportunity to work on many fine instruments, I feel like I have achieved a thorough understanding of tonal adjustments and instrument set up that I apply to my making every day.
Over the years I have had a continuing collaboration with my friend and prestigious violin maker Ryan Soltis who has mentored me through building instruments together and has become an invaluable resource for my artistic development.
I have also had the chance of participating in events such as the Oberlin Acoustics workshop, where world class violin makers meet up to share their knowledge and explore new concepts. In 2024 I was invited to the Oh!Berlin violin makers gathering in Brandenburg as a speaker. These meetings help me gain new insights and keep me up to date with the latest advancements in the craft.
My violins have been exhibited in the Contemporary Violin Makers Exhibition in New York City and won multiple awards from the Violin Society of America International Competition.

I continue to enjoy playing the violin in different groups, be it chamber music with friends or folk and jazz with bands. In my free time I like to find inspiration in nature, and realize that my artistic practice often starts there.
